The Garment Factory
112 Ingram Street is a purpose-built commercial property, constructed circa 1898, designed by James Thompson. Originally designed as a garment factory the building was laterally used by Glasgow City Council as offices. This project’s aim was to create a unique commercial office space in the heart of the Merchant City.
Using key design features of the listed property, the architect designed interesting workspace which appealed to creative and design industries with retail or restaurant spaces created on the ground and basement levels.
PMP was appointed as Project Manager due to its depth of experience in working with listed properties.
PMP, in conjunction with the Quantity Surveyor, developed a phased procurement strategy to allow the office strip out to take place while necessary statutory approvals were sought, and the fit-out design was concluded. This approach reduced the risk to costs and the programme, due to discovery during the fit-out process.
PMP coordinated the various design, planning and letting consultants to develop a design which met the client’s exacting requirements as well as satisfying statutory bodies such as Historic Environment Scotland.
Woven into the fabric of this building is a new sense of purpose and identity and PMP was delighted to play its part in The Garment Factory’s now thriving future and legacy.
