Category A achieved for Canongate Venture
We worked closely with Edinburgh Castle Limited to refurbish the heavily dilapidated and former school building to a modern and sleek hotel and restaurant.
Situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, Canongate Venture is located adjacent to the new HMRC and Council Headquarters. This building, during the interim period of its lifespan, has also been the site office for the redevelopment of the area by Artisan Real Estate.
PMP, alongside Staran Architects, established the brief for the redevelopment from Grade C-listed school building into a luxury 21-bed hotel and restaurant. The hotel retained as many of the original characteristics of the original building while modernising it to provide the luxury and prominence it required in such a up-and-coming area. The restaurant extension provided a dual purpose of both modern open frame shell and sleek roof terrace above.
PMP provided project management, contract administration and principal designer services throughout the refurbishment to achieve Category A and shell standards. The building has also become the first of BrewDogs “DogHouse” hotels.
