Maybole Castle
Maybole Castle is a 16th-century castle located in Maybole, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Originally built for the Earls of Cassillis, the Castle is steeped in history.
The Castle became a category A listed building in 1971 and is currently undergoing a £1.5M refurbishment to return it to its former glory. Locals and visitors will be able to enjoy the building and the grounds, and the project, once complete, will create new business and employment opportunities for the area.
As well as the careful restoration of the castle, the project will deliver improved access and a fit-out of the ground and first floors to provide a local visitor attraction and modern office accommodation.
The project is funded through a partial grant by the Scottish Government’s Regeneration and Capital Fund Grant, where PMP’s cost consultants provided cost advice supporting this funding application.
The team acted as Quantity Surveyor on the restoration works and provided accurate cost advice, risk management and project procurement on behalf of the client, a consortium of South Ayrshire Council and Cassiliss Estates, regularly and ensured that the works remained on budget and representing value for money.
