John established PMP in 1992 and is now Chairman, having handed over the role of Managing Director to Joe Madden in 2019. He specialises in project management & has a wealth of experience on a variety of multi-million pound commercial developments.
Joe has taken on the role of Managing Director leading both the Glasgow office and the business as a whole. A chartered building surveyor with 15 years’ experience across transactional, legal & project related advice, Joe specialises in pre & post-acquisition technical due diligence (including development & project monitoring) & dilapidations matters. He has a great deal of experience in expert appointments, mediation & other forms of ADR. Joe is a guest lecturer for Glasgow Caledonian University’s Building Surveying degree, currently responsible for the dilapidations & expert witness modules.
Stewart leads the Edinburgh office and supports Joe in developing PMP’s strategic direction. Stewart has specialised in providing technical due diligence advice across all commercial sectors for 20 years with experience including the coordination of consultants on large UK wide portfolios for private clients & institutional investors. Stewart is often retained on the implementation of contract works to unlock an asset’s value. He also has experience in project management, coordinating & progressing large refurbishment, alteration & new build developments.
James has over 5 years’ experience with a varied commercial background across all building surveying disciplines. His eye for detail and interest in property law has led to a keen interest, and growing reputation, in the field of dilapidations, while also gaining a strong track record with our retail sector clients, and in technical due diligence.
Having graduated in 2017 from Liverpool John Moore’s University, Chris joined the Manchester team with almost four years’ experience, including a work placement and working part time throughout his final year of study. As a dedicated member of the team, Chris is hardworking and has shown great attention to detail. Chris is gaining a wealth of experience assisting the Manchester team and is well placed to complete his APC.
Josh joined the PMP Glasgow office in 2018 part-way through his studies and graduated in May 2018 from Glasgow Caledonian University. He is now working towards his RICS Assessment of Professional Competency exam. Josh supports the building surveying team on a range of instructions and has experience in preparing schedules of condition & dilapidations, design & specification, CAD & obtaining statutory consents.
With over 19 years’ experience in surveying, Elaine has worked across a range of sectors in the North West and has a vast knowledge of contract administration & technical due diligence. Elaine’s experience in working with both private & public sector clients has resulted in a thorough understanding of their expectations. She is a great asset to our Manchester team, where she specialises in contract administration and management of commercial refurbishment & redevelopment projects.
With a BA in Business & Management, Kara has a strong administrative background. She manages the PMP accounts, as well as efficiently running the Glasgow office.
A chartered building surveyor, Ashley has been with PMP since graduating, gaining a variety of experience in project delivery & contract administration. He has a thorough understanding of building appraisals & acts as both building surveyor & project manager.
A chartered building surveyor with over 25 years’ experience, Stan is an industry respected figure who can provide quick, independent & reliable advice on all aspects of commercial property & development. He is a recognised expert in matters of building contract, dilapidations & defect analysis.

Emilio has experience in the industrial & commercial sectors, delivering all core aspects of building surveying. His focus is on contract administration, design & specification, building pathology & dilapidations.
Joe established our PM team in Glasgow in 2015. Having worked in London & abroad on a number of high profile projects, he has a detailed understanding of the development process across all sectors & is able to apply strong leadership & sound management to ensure projects are delivered in line with their key objectives.
John leads our QS & Cost Management service delivery. Having worked in the UK and internationally for both consultancy and contracting organisations, he has a wealth of commercial experience at all stages of the development process from feasibility to project financial control. John’s skills also encompass project monitoring, expert witness, procurement advice & contract administration. The focus of the service delivery is to identify and drive value in design & construction in conjunction with a robust consideration of project risk. Outside of PMP, John sits as a Non-Executive Board member for RICS Scotland.
A chartered building surveyor with a broad range of experience, Gus specialises in contract administration, specification & management of commercial redevelopment & refurbishment projects. He sits on the RICS Profession Group Board for building surveying & acts as an external assessor for the building surveying degree at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Chris has a variety of experience in project management & contract administration in the London market with a strong focus in office, retail (including shopping centre) & residential sectors. He specialises in project management & has a particular knowledge of services involving building pathology, construction technology, design & specification, inspection & legal & regulatory compliance.
Rona is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and has undertaken QS & Cost Management roles in both the public & private sector. She has a wide range of experience, in particular in retail, taking projects from initial feasibility through to completion & beyond, working with the design team, in addition to main contractors, sub-contractors & direct suppliers, to achieve best value.
David has gained a variety of experience in both industrial and commercial sectors; delivering all core aspects of building surveying.
He specialises in contract administration, principal designer duties under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015, local authority statutory consent and building pathology.
Robert has over ten years’ experience in the construction industry as a joiner and project manager. Having graduated as a building surveyor in 2017, he is working towards his full RICS membership by undertaking his Assessment of Professional Competence.
Anne Marie McGrath
Anne Marie has over 18 years’ experience as a chartered building surveyor undertaking a variety of work which has latterly focussed on project management & contract administration of large projects for institutional & fund management clients. She is a RICS Assessor & sits on the panel for candidates undertaking the Assessment of Professional Competence.
After a summer internship at PMP in 2017, David has returned to the Edinburgh office after graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University. David has previously worked as a labourer and completed a placement at Atelier 10 working alongside building services engineers. David is now working towards RICS Assessment of Professional Competence exam.
Bryan joins PMP with significant cost management experience in both the public & private sectors having previously worked with blue chip consultancy & contracting organisations. He has particular expertise in the retail & infrastructure markets with skills covering all stages of the development process, from project conception to project completion.
Sonia is PMP’s bookkeeper, recording all of the business’ financial transactions and preparing our company accounts & VAT return.
Chris has 20 years’ experience in the property industry, specialising in technical due diligence advice across all commercial sectors. His expertise includes development and project monitoring for institutional investors and he also has extensive experience in project management & contract administration, co-ordinating & progressing large refurbishment projects throughout the UK.
David has over 10 years’ experience in the industry specialising in project management and contract administration of insurance reinstatement claims & industrial refurbishments. He is also experienced in undertaking schedules of conditions, dilapidations and building survey inspections, has acted as CDM advisor for a number of clients and undertaken the role of principle designer.
Jo is our Manchester Office Manager and personal assistant to office director Ben Walker. She has 30 years’ experience in the commercial property sector and helps ensure that our Manchester team runs efficiently.
Kevin is a director in the Edinburgh building surveying team & has considerable knowledge of & experience in the industry. He has great leadership & organisational skills and is a highly regarded building surveyor.
Ben heads up our Manchester office, having previously built and led one of the city’s largest independent building consultancies. With over 15 years experience of varied commercial instructions, Ben specialises in technical due diligence and dilapidations, with a strong track record in the retail sector.
Ian leads the Project Management team in our Edinburgh office and joined PMP with over 25 years’ experience in the property industry, working extensively throughout the UK and more recently in south east Asia. Over the years he has worked with a wide variety of local & international clients, primarily within the commercial, retail, industrial, hotel & leisure sectors. Ian’s experience extends to the design, specification, procurement & post-contract management of numerous refurbishment & new build projects, specialising in project set up, programme & risk management.
Darren has over 5 years’ experience as a project manager working on a portfolio of engineering & design consultancy projects. He is now specialising in delivering project management for commercial property projects and is working towards his RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (Project Management pathway).
Debby is a very hardworking office administrator with over 12 years’ experience in the commercial property sector. She is personal assistant for Executive Director Stewart Rutherford.
Kenneth has experience in both industrial & commercial sectors in all core aspects of building surveying. He specialises in acting as contract administrator, preparing schedules of condition, dilapidations (acting for Landlord & Tenant) & providing pathology advice.
Susan has efficiently managed the PMP Edinburgh office since it was established in 1992. She has a great deal of experience in office administration and credit control and keeps the whole of PMP running smoothly as well as acting as personal assistant to Chairman John Dunn.
