Project Description

Designed in 1905 by James Miller, the Edwardian Anchor Line building was home to the go-to company of the same name, where Scots would book their transatlantic voyages. The grand interior reflected the success of Anchor Line and inspired travel.

The Grade A Listed Building was purchased by The DRG in 2016 and a major refurbishment of the building began to return the building to its former glory with a new lease of life as Boutique Serviced Apartments.

The interior of each apartment draws upon the opulence of 1920’s ocean travel and careful restoration has preserved some iconic details that make Anchorline a must-visit destination.

PMP acted on behalf of The DRG as Project Managers, Principal Designers and Contract Administrators. The scope of the refurbishment created 64 apartments, operated by ‘Native” where many of the original features such as terrazzo flooring, timber wall panelling and original fire places have been carefully retained.

Challenges of the project included working in a confined city centre site and the creation of a roof top terrace with commanding views over the heart of Glasgow’s City Centre. Retaining and restoring historic details of the building required careful selection of materials and skilled trades.
